For those of you in cities getting buried in snow: if you can, please consider shoveling a sidewalk, even if it’s just the part right in front of your door. It’ll make at least that small bit of someone’s trip a little nicer, and maybe even prevent some broken bones. If you’re feeling ambitious (I might be after dinner; for now I’m sweaty and spent) go for the gold and see how much of your block you can clear. Don’t forget the ramps leading to the pavement–it’s a bitch to be on crutches or in a wheelchair (or, heck, just walking a dog) in this weather, not to mention if you can’t easily get from asphalt to concrete.
And if you’re walking tonight and see one of us shoveling? A thank you goes a long way.
